A thought: although the Angels can't protest a judgment call by the umpire (no matter how bad), what about the fact that the home plate umpire clearly ruled after the initial strikeout call that the batter was out with the raised fist? To let the player take first after he was already called out on the play would be a violation of the rules, which can be protested. The only way they could order a replay of the game is if it clearly affects the outcome - and there's certainly no doubt in this case.
I'm dreaming, really, as baseball will never overturn the call, but that's what should happen. They should go back out tomorrow and replay starting in the top of the tenth.
