Well, Persynski did what you are supposed to do ... run to first. I remember growing up and playing youth league baseball ... this is one thing we were always told to do. Run it out on third strike, when there is a chance the ball may have hit the ground.

Only problem here was the ump called AJ out, though it does appear the ball may have scraped (and that is all it would take, per the rules) for AJ to have the right to run it out on strike three.

Ump called AJ out, thus he should be out ... but, I think it may have bounced back into his glove AFTER he smothered it.

Of course, how do they usually work these?

It's strike three swinging.
Ball hits ground.
Runner goes to first and is safe.

How is that scored and how is the ump supposed to signal such?
