***note*** since I'm doing the "fight the guy closest in the rankings" month in () before the record will be their ranking before/after the fight ... remember the club fighters are ranked separately.
May 1, 1909
HW - James Corbett (12/11) (28-8-2) UD10 Jack Root (10/14) (30-9-1)
HW - George Perry (UR) (7-3-4) KO5 Tommy Dugan (UR/43) (10-5)
MW - Kid Carter (6/4) (10-10-2) KO3 Paddy Purtell (19/19) (10-13)
FW - Eddie Lenny (10/10) (8-6-4) MD10 Sammy Kelly (11/12) (8-7-1)
LW - Paul Koehler (UR) (7-0) UD8 Dick Hyland (UR) (7-1) (both fighters at pre for this club fight)
HW - Tompkin Gilbert (21/10) (7-23-3) SD10 Charlie McDonald (19/16) (7-15-1) (club fight)
*** note *** I noticed McDonald went up in the rankings despite losing, here's why .... he added a loss to his last five but a loss also dropped off. The loss that dropped off had cost him -1450.70 pp while the one added cost him -770. So a better loss than the one that dropped off, moved him up in the rankings. (Still would like a better plan but at least this is explainable)
