Repost from a related thread. This isn't simply a Cato issue. It's a game issue. I agree with Bruce and it can only be said again and again. It shouldn't happen. These mid-season issues are even more disturbing when a game-owner has his retirement option turned OFF.

When the player signs, and you change that r to a p, his history will only show as him being with NY for that season. A release line is needed just prior to this signing transaction showing him released from the team he retired from.

If a player just retires and doesn't resign with anyone, there is no need to add another player release line.

This is getting too complicated anyway. I continue to do my fixes manually, one at a time. Still only takes me 20 - 30 minutes tops to fix the trans file.

I'm still hoping that Markus will fix the root of the problem, and that is to stop players who retire from going to the FA pool and signing with another team. This just shouldn't happen. The player should not become an FA after retiring mid season. If he wishes to unretire it should happen during the offseason. If he comes back during the same season, then his rights should still belong to his original team.
