For a team languishing at the bottom of the Bay League standings, there's certainly a lot of talk about the Allison Spelunkers lately, thanks to outstanding performances from their pitchers. In the last installment of Bay League news, we talked about Kyle Richardson's near no-hitter. This time, it's Bobby Edwards that's getting the press, thanks to a 2-hit shutout against the Deepvale Ferrymen. You may remember that Richardson also twirled his gem against the Ferrymen, who sit atop the league standings. All the more impressive was the fact that Edwards faced just 3 batters over the minimum, walking none and striking out ten, just one off his career high mark of 11. This pair of outings from Spelunker hurlers ranks as the top pitching performances of the Bay League's first season.

As mentioned above, the Deepvale Ferrymen now occupy the top spot in the standings, thanks to a 4-game win streak and uneven play from the Gentry Hills nine. That win streak includes a 16-8 pasting of the Marsein Knights in which the Ferrymen scored in 7 of the 9 innings, as well as a 6-hit, 1-walk shutout against the Knights turned in by Jason Grant. The Ferrymen are hosting the Allison Spelunkers right now, and if past history is any indication, this battle of first vs. last isn't as lopsided as it looks on paper.
