July 24, 1983: The infamous 'Pine Tar Game'. George Brett's 9th inning 2 out 2 run home run off Yankee pitcher Rich Gossage gives the Royals a 5-4 lead. Billy Martin points out the pine tar on the bat exceeds the limits allowed. The home run is disallowed and the Royals protest. The protest is upheld and the game will be continued August 18 with the home run to count.
