40 man roster - rookie learning the hard way! pointers needed

I didn't know details of minor leagues, 40 man rosters, rule 5 drafts and all that stuff, so that's part of the reason I am now enjoying OOTP because I am learning these things.

But, man-oh-man! The 40 man roster will be the death of me in my first season! I start out the season thinking how everything is set up nice and perfect, I've got my prospects throughout the minors all protected on the 40 man roster. Then I have my first injury and need to bring up an infielder... oops, the only one I have on the 40 man roster is a freckle faced high school kid down in "A" ball who can hardly keep his breakfast in him on the bus rides! So now I have to figure out how to get one of my AAA guys on the 40 man roster, waive one of the other guys, etc... Oh, and now I find I need a starting pitcher.. so I do the same thing again.

Wow has this been a learning experience!

Any pointers on how to set up the 40 man roster to allow subs from AAA yet also cover prospects?
