Way to go, Sox fans. No posts since early June? OK, since the Twinkies are all but buried, there's gotta be something worth posting...
OK, some starters:
1. Trades: anything look reasonable? The hitting has gotten better, but it still isn't going to carry us if the pitching gets shaky. Any obvious upgrades available? Eric Chavez, maybe?
Speaking of shaky pitching, the McCarthy experiment seems to be indicating that he needs a bit more seasoning before he's ready for prime time. Does anyone feel confident that the Buhrle-Garcia-Garland playoff rotation is solid enough? Maybe a play for Schmidt would put us over the top?
2. Thomas is back: or is it the return of Ken Phelps? Is it enough to walk, K, or hit a homerun at every AB? Check out his #s so far:
.236 BA - .350 OBP - .677 SLG. Kind of a StatHedz wet dream of a season, no?
3. The Cubbies: sure, we split the season series with the hated North-Siders, but they're bumbling and stumbling their way to a typical Cubs-esque .500 season. This in itself should be cause for happiness among the 2nd citys' 2nd teams' fans.
Discuss...
