WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 8
The Guelph Storm are off today as we continue to prepare for a 3 game weekend. I am busy with some trade talks involving defenseman Mick Okrzesik. The 19 year old defenseman from Pittsburgh has not been able to crack my line-up, playing just 3 games this season and having an average rating of 6.75. He had played 117 games for the Storm over the past two seasons but had just 6 points and really did not seem to involve himself physically in the game. Barrie had offered me a 4th round pick for him and I countered with a marginal prospect instead. I am waiting on their response.

There were 3 games tonight as Barrie blanked Sudbury 2-0, Mike Montgoemery's first two goals of the season helped Peterborough past Saginaw 4-3 while in Owen Sound Bobby Ryan had 3 points as the Attack blasted Erie 7-2.

THURSDAY DECEMBER 9
We put a little more emphasis on special teams in our final day of practice before 3 games in 3 nights. On the ice Sarnia rallied with 3 third period goals to beat the Rangers 3-2 in Kitchener. Two other contests saw Mississauga shade Brampton 5-4 while Saginaw blanked Ottawa 3-0.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 10
GUELPH 3 at SARNIA 3

Goaltending let down both sides as we settle for a 3-3 tie against the Sting in Sarnia. Danny Taylor let a soft one beat him for the tying goal while Sarnia started backup Mike Iafrate and he was just awful. We are certainly happy to take a point from the Sting in their building had Paolo Bottiglia not hit the post on a shot from the point in overtime we could have escaped with a much-needed second point.

SCORING SUMMARY
FIRST PERIOD
GUE Callahan 10 (Paille, Bottiglia) 8:51 PP

SECOND PERIOD
GUE Gurtler 7 (Stach) 4:12
SAR Painchaud 2 (Restoule, Antonation) 9:06

THIRD PERIOD
SAR Versteeg-Lytwyn 5 (Painchaud, DeVries) 1:11

In other action Saginaw won for the second straight night, beating Kingston 3-2 on a goal by Jack Combs with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Peterborough held off Erie 4-3 despite a strong 3-point night from the Otters Michael Blunden.

London suffered just it's third loss of the season, falling 4-3 at home against Owen Sound. Brampton beat St Michael's 3-1, Belleville doubled Oshawa 4-2 while Kitchener beat Sault Ste Marie by the same 4-2 count.

In Windsor the Spitfires lost 5-3 to cross-border rival Plymouth. Finallyu in Sudbury, new pick up Jhase Sniderman - the ex-Erie goalie - had the shutout as the Wolves blanked Barrie 3-0.

SATURDAY DECEMBER 11
GUELPH 0 at PETERBOROUGH 4

The schedule makers did not do us any favours. After a Friday night game in Sarnia we headed the opposite direction for a game Saturday night against the Petes. We fought nicely for two periods but ran out of steam in the third as the Petes put the game away with 3 goals. Doug Groenestege started in net and played pretty well.

SCORING SUMMARY
FIRST PERIOD
PET Reddox 13 (Ryder, Tardif) 8:41 PP

SECOND PERIOD
no scoring

THIRD PERIOD
PET Beljo 9 (Kaleta) 0:15
PET Evans 3 (Cowie, Soryal) 2:00

Tomorrow we wrap up the 3 game weekend with a contest at home against St Michael's.
