Cubs Blank Mets...Again
NEW YORK - The New York Mets probably wanted a police escort so the '06 Cubs could get back to the airport and get out of town as quickly as possible.
For the third straight night, the Cubs shut down the Mets in a 4-0 blanking by starter Ed Reulbach. Reulback allowed just 6 hits in the win.
In the 3-game series, the Mets musterd just 3 runs and 19 hits against the well-armed Cubs.
The Mets will host the '34 Cardinals in the opener of the 3-game set tomorrow night.
Notes: Mickey Mantle ('61 Yanks) hit a 504-foot homer off of Mike Flanagan ('83 O's) yesterday...The '98 Yanks pulled off the first trade of the young season, sending RP Mike Stanton to the '57 Braves for LF Andy Pafko and 3B Harry Hanebrink...Hank Aaron ('57 Braves) injured his back and is day-to-day but may miss up to 3 weeks.
