MID POINT NOTES: I guess I screwed up. I thought I had FTP'd roster updates, but obviously it hadn't worked as Fite had Perly playing SS and hitting leadoff while Shirely played 2B for several games at the beginning of the month. Perly is a natural 2B, Shirely is rated at SS, so this made absolutely no sense at all. Meanwhile Starling got 0 PT despite the fact he can backup 2B, SS & 3B. But Starlings hitting ratings have taken a heavy blow due to lack of use, so I can see why Fite didn't want to play him. Still, there were some terrible AI decisions during that early month losing streak. For the 5/15 THU 5/31 SIM I swapped Walter Pond into the #4 spot in the rotation to see if he could do better than Faulkner who was clearly our worst starter through the first month.

STANDINGS
27-24, #3 in the AL, 11.5 games behind KC, 14-13 in May

BAD NEWS
-We played terrible against NY & KC. They are better teams, I'm not denying that, but especially the last series against KC, we got spanked.
-Only 2 hitters hit above .300.
-All of our starters are hot and cold... no one did better than a 3.81 era.

GOOD NEWS
-Ray Kress had the best month we've seen from him in a very long while (.427, 8HR, 20RBI, 17R, 22BB).
-Dave Castaneda was also hot after coming back from injury hitting .338.
-John Patterson followed his 8 save April month with a 7 save month of May. He's getting the job done during save ops, but Fite uses him too much at times even during games where we are losing by 3 or more. Not good Fite, don't burn the kid out.

ROSTER MOVES
-Joe Starling has regressed to the point where he is useless on our active roster. For sure I'll have to call up a better backup SS. I'll probably play it safe and go with Lundberg for now. Nasty Camacho is recovering from an injury and like I mentioned before is a 19yo rookie we do not want to rush.
-Pond has been hot and cold just like Faulkner, but I want to give him the same month and a half I gave Faulkner before I decide who to keep at that #4 slot.
