"So what did you think of that manager Rowe getting himself kicked out of the game yesterday."

"Strange stuff." Out in the backyard, a mockingbird lifted its tail, then took off for the woods.

"I think it shows that Rowe has a short fuse. No real sense in getting kicked out over your pitcher being called on strikes."

"Yeah, no argument here. But didn't it just get stranger after that?"

A neighbor's dog barked.

"Stranger than an alien's tentacle shake, I'd say. You'd think the coach who took over would follow through on Rowe's decision to let pitch the ninth. Instead, he brought in Rocha."

"You don't think Rowe would have brought in Rocha? Nah, it would have made no sense. No sense at all."

"I agree."

A light breeze tickled some maple leaves.

"I don't know how Jones dropped that ball."

"To be fair, if Jones hadn't dropped it, we probably wouldn't be wondering so much about taking Lopez out."

"Yeah, probably. But I still think it would have been odd enough to mention."

"Hey Joe, why are there never any rainouts?"
