I'm a little surprised by Wright not being on some ballots. I'm not sure what more a player needs to do.
He was 29-31 when off to the war. That was right when his power started to kick in, and it along with the deadening of the ball prior to leaving cut his dingers down to "just" 251.

Injured on 9/24/1935 with a Strained Groin Muscle, out for one week
Injured on 9/22/1949 with a Torn Abdominal Muscle, out for 4-5 weeks
But he got both of those injuries after playing full seasons, helping his team with the pennant, but right before the Series.
