The Middies had a lineup of solid hitters for the most part, good enough to score 772 runs, the second most of all the teams. Joseph Cueva was the most dangerous of the bats, hitting .301, 29 homeruns and 100 RBI's. Jose Neyra provided some pop in the cleanup slot, with 18 homers and 87 RBI's.

Of note on the pitching staff was George Lopez, a hardthrowing southpaw who had won 19 games for Annapolis this first season. He also struck out over 305 batters in 246.2 innings of work. He had some reputation of being a bit inconsistent, but most observers agreed that when he was on, he might have the best stuff of any starter in the game. And he had been on for September, winning pitcher of the month honors.

The bullpen was nothing spectacular, although the Middies had one of the more colorful characters of the game. Pasqual "Kitchen Sink" Rocha, born on Halloween, had a flair for odd deliveries and throwing every pitch known to humankind, except the knuckleball, which he had once described derisively as "a pitch thrown by those who can't pitch, like Pasqual can pitch. OH YEAH!" When asked what his best pitch was, he said it was his Voodoo Curve, because it broke many a man's spirit.

David Rowe, a manager known for a quick hook on pitchers, had used Rocha frequently in spite of Kitchen Sink's penchant for antics. Whether or not Rocha would be used in the pressure cooker of the postseason championship was unknown.
