My question is, does this program create a file that I can edit manually before importing it into OOTP? Anything I should know in advance, or be aware of so that I don't create an unusable mess? I'm thinking I'd let the program have a go at it to get a basic structure then modify it to balance it the way we'd like it.

Or would it be better to just start from scratch? Any programs, file formats, spreadsheets to make that easier?

I could layout on paper what I'd like to see, then I could drop that into a calendar to make a real looking schedule. Just don't know how to get that effort into the game.

Thanks

Use the program to create the schedule.dat file and then do a csv export from the edit schedule screen. That will give you a file like the one above. To modify the schedule, the format is day # (1-365(6)), away team, home team, start time. Once you're done making the changes you want, go back to the setup screen and choose csv import.
