4/16 DET @ NYY: WIN 3-1 Roy Wolfe (3-0, 1.80) got the CG win and POG giving up just 1R. Eric Williams (2-1, 1.73) gave up 3R (1ER) for the CG loss. Top Yank hitters were RF Arnie Stewart (2 for 4, 1HR), 3B Wood Woodworth (2 for 4, 1DBL) & 2B John Valcarcel (2 for 4). For us, Dave Castaneda went 1 for 3, 1BB. Roy Wolfe went 1 for 3, 1RBI. They out hit us 9 to 6 but committed 3 errors to our 0.

4/17 DET @ NYY: WIN 7-4 Sonny Faulkner (1-2, 4.07) gave up 3R in 7.2IP. An error and non-earned run against Pond in the 9th got NY to within 3. John Patterson finished out the 9th with one pitch and got his 4th save. Roosevelt Wurth (1-2, 5.64) gave up 7R in 6.1IP for the loss. Top Yank hitter was RF Arnie Stewart who went 1 for 5, 2R, 2RBI, 1HR. For us, Dave Castaneda got POG going 3 for 4, 3R, 2RBI, 1BB, 1DBL, 1HR. Jim Coleman went 1 for 4, 3RBI.

STANDINGS
13-11, #4 in the AL, 4 games behind KC, 10-4 in the last two weeks

BAD NEWS
-Andrew (4.35), Faulkner (5.24), Nolting (4.91) - not good numbers for our vet starters
-Kress (.130), Mitchell (.155), Lutske (.215) also had a rough month.
-Castaneda was one of the few hitters playing consistent ball but was lost to injury and is expected to miss another 2 weeks.

GOOD NEWS
-Roy Wolfe (5-1, 2.10) is pitching well and just barely missed out on Pitcher of the Month.
-John Patterson has been a busy guy leading the AL in games (16) and saves (8).
-Matt Perly (.311, 7HR, 20RBI) has been our top hitters. Coleman is only hitting (.247) but is at least hitting for power (6HR, 19RBI).

ROSTER MOVES
-With Castaneda out we need another SS on our active roster as Fite has no confidence in Joe Starling. Mark Shirey has been covering SS, but that leaves us no backup at 2B or 3B. Our choices for call up are Elroy Lundberg or Nasty Camacho. I really REALLY hate the idea of rushing Nasty, but the 19yo is by far the best hitter at Buffalo-AAA right now.
