Gentlemen,
I accept your offer of reparation, and will return to the field soon enough. But make no mistake, I return to clarify the misconceptions regarding my abscence, not to make good on a contract I signed with you.
As far as Mr. Brand goes, I find him a vile, ignorant man unsuitable for the position he currently holds. When I return, I shall not instigate any quarrels with him, I suggest you advise him to offer me the same courtesy.
It is funny you should mention issues of integrity, especially regarding mine, or rather my lack thereof. Gentlemen, ballplayers are not slaves, nor are we pawns for you to do with whatever you please. We are men with families, just as you are, and I find it appalling that you would treat the very men who line your pockets with such animosity.
After the season has finished, I aim to find myself in the employ of an owner, and of a league, whom gives players, and the game itself, the respect it deserves.
