STANDINGS
58-45, 3rd in the AL, 14.5 games behind the Yanks, 8-7 in the last couple of weeks.
BAD NEWS
-In the last couple of weeks, in all our losses (except for the two in NY), we either out hit our opponent or had the same number of hits. So yea, this last couple of weeks could have been a huge boost if we had been more efficient with those hits. Even so, we miss Mr.500 OBP guy bad when he's not in our lineup.
-I think this last couple of weeks just about clinches the end to our pennant run as we just don't have the fire power to catch those Yanks this year.
GOOD NEWS
-Andrew (5-1, 2.32) & Nolting (4-1, 2.96) put up some nice efforts for the month.
-Kreitenberg (.388, 22R), Kitterman (.314, 16R), Degal (.308, 18RBI) & Andrew (.300) were our top hitters for the month.
-No new injuries to any more starters is a good thing.
ROSTER MOVES
-George Young was called up as we had no legit backup 1B since Kreit was dubbed a starter.
-Mike Kreitenberg moved to 2B - he's clearly more comfortable there with 0 errors in 26 games.
-Matt Perly was sent to the OF to fill in with injuries to Kress and Mitchell and to (hopefully) snap him out of his hitting slump. When Mitchell comes back, I will most likely move him to LF as Kress appears to be out for the entire year according to the latest estimates I've seen from the trainers. Perly will most likely stay in RF for a while as Kreitenberg is tearing shtuff up both offensively at lead off and defensively at 2B.
-Magnus George got beat up pretty good in the closer role blowing 3 hold ops in a week, so we are going to audition a new "go to" guy this next month. It sure will be nice to have Patterson back.
