6/20 day off

6/21 DET @ WSH: loss 0-1 Bud Ulrich (5-4, 3.78) gave up just 4H and 1R in 7.1IP but still lost. Bob Netsky (5-11, 5.37) pitched 8.1 shutout innings for the win and POG. STANDINGS
43-35, #4 in the AL, 12 games behind NY, 5-7 in the last couple of weeks

BAD NEWS
-Where to begin... at the risk of sounding like a broken record… Our pitching was inconsistant would be putting it mildly.
-Bud Ulirch started the season 5-0, but went 0-6 in his last 10 games. He's had a few games where he had less run support than he's used to. However, in a lot of those 10 non-wins, he just flat out stunk.
-Number of HRs by Kress for the entire month... 1. Total so far this season... 8. He seems to be going through the motions these days content to climb the Career Leaderboard in Walks. Come on Kress... Where's "The Boss", where's our on field leader... step up man. You did well AVG-wise this month, but where's that power hitting?
-Perly didn't pick up any of the slack. He hit .180 for the month and a dismal .236 for the season.

GOOD NEWS
-Both Andrew and Wolfe finished the month with nice wins.
-Kreitenberg (.374, 18R), Andrew (.368), Kitterman (.358, 20R), Mitchell (.348), Kress (.329, 35BB), Degal (.311, 25R, 25RBI, 8HR), Coleman (.301, 5HR, 25RBI) all hit well.

ROSTER MOVES
-We lost Mitchell in the last game of the month and that really suck as we have no decent hitting OF outside our starting 3. He's expected to be out a month and a half. Barring a trade I may have to call upon Cano. I wouldn't be screwing up his offensive developement because injuries have alread done that to him. However, the kid makes spectacular diving catches out there in RF and might spark some excitement with his defense alone.
-Corky Stell wasn't happy about going down to the minors and objected big time when we informed him of the plan. But when a pitching coach / player option was mentioned, he reluctantly "did what's best for the team".
