29 year-old Clarence Corbin, a shortstop in Leavenworth of the Kansas League in 1899 had no idea of the 1900 season he'd have when he declared his intentions to enter the 1900 Pro Circuit amateur draft!!
Clarence was taken early in the first round by the Kansas City Clarions, allowing Corbin to stay close to his Kansas roots.
Clarence responded with a .402 season in which he led the Clarions to respectability and put a fear in the Birmingham Black Stockings in the Western Alliance before bowing to the defending champs by 1 game. Clarence earned the 'Finest Newcomer' AND 'Jess Cross' (best overall hitter) Awards for his fine performance!!
We're entering our 7th season in the Pro Circuit (1901) and have loads of fun with our 14 team fictorical league set in the days when baseball was still a game that meant something to its players. We play a 126 game season, use deadball numbers, and our own name generator to create our historical players! Oh yeah..........we have our own facepack created from old, obscure baseball cards too!
Come by and check us out sometime...........and congratulations to Clarence Corbin on a fine 'rookie' season, at age 29!!
