BoxRec lists Arthur as a Light Heavyweight, but the majority of his career was fought as a middleweight. His Middleweight career started out 14-2-1. He finished that phase with wins against Eddie Miller(35-24-3,17KO) and Tony Masciarelli(49-46-5,21KO), the best looking opponents of the bunch. Then in May and June 1950 he first lost an 8 round decision to and then won a 10 round decision against Billy Brown(57-37-7,13KO). Including those fights from then through February 1952 Arthur managed only a 3-13-0,1KO record. Included in the losses were ones against Walter Cartier twice, Garth Panter twice, Jimmy Welch, Al Priest and Lee Sala. After he had KO'd Penn Lester and 0-2 fighter, in October 1951, Arthur finished with 4 consectutive KO losses to finish those 13 dropped fights.

At that point, Arthur made the move to work up to the Light Heavyweight division. In March 1952, about 3-1/2 weeks after a 3rd round KO loss to Sala, ARthur took on LHW Alvin Williams loosing a 10 round decision to Williams. He followed that with a 4th round KO against Claude Brown. Interesting to note that Boxrec shows Arthur at 163 lbs in early February for that fight against Sala. Only 4 months later came the Brown fight and Arthur's listed at 185!

Arthur's career as a Light Heavy was breaf compiling only a 3-4-2 record. He managed beat Williams in a later fight along with beating Joe Moran. He lost to Bobby Dykes twice and to Tunney Hunsaker in March 1953. After a 3 round draw with a John Vinegar(3-7-1) and a 6 round draw with Irwin Schultz(23-16-7,6KO), Arthur hung em up.
