You make it sound like turning 34 is a bad thing. Maybe in the NFL, yes, but 34 in the MLB is well within the "prime" playing age in MLB. So, what would you consider Bonds ? Washed up ?
What I'd give to be washed up and hit .370 in the MLB.
You are correct in the rest of your assumptions though. The Mets need a real OF or two and a real ace, at the very least, to have any kind of success next year.
