Most of my leagues are what I call fictional hypothetical independent leagues. Sometimes I'll take the Federal League, for instance, and play it from 1916 on as if it stayed in existence. Sometimes I'll do the Continental League, which never actually formed. Other times I'll make up leagues with simple stories like "started in 1981/1995 as a reaction to the baseball strike." Sometimes they'll be regional leagues, like a Northeast League or a New York League or something.
