Baltimore 84-79 SP William Barks 14-15 4.13era
@ Los Angeles 100-63 SP Darren Delp 21-5 2.77era
Well anyone looking at this pitching matchup will give this game to the Paladins. But in the words of Chris Berman, "That's why they play the games."
Barks was knocked out of the game in the 6th inning after giving up his 3rd run and making the score 3-2 LA. Delp once again put on a clinic and was dominating until the 8th inning, when The Deacon hit his 2nd home run of the game. It then all fell apart for the Paladins.
Delp is one of the nastiest pitchers in the game, and he doesn't enjoy giving up home runs (maybe because he gives up so many of them). He was in 10th in the TUBF, 6th in the WL, with 28HR given up this season. Immediately after the Home Run he plunks LF Scott Doiron and the Paladin manager pulls him out of the game. Reliever Jerry Cousar then gives up an RBI double to Michael Banton, sealing the victory. Many in the media questioned why Delp was left in the game to pitch to The Deacon again. No comment of the loss came from the Paladins manager.
Final Score: Bal 5-4
W: Manriquez (1-0)
L: Delp (0-1)
S: Mendez (2)
This loss is one of Delp's worst post season outings:
| Year | G | GS | W | L | SV | ERA | IP | HA | R | ER | BB | K | CG | SHO | | 1999 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 1.59 | 22.2 | 14 | 5 | 4 | 1 | 19 | 0 | 0 | | 2000 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 4.20 | 15.0 | 17 | 9 | 7 | 0 | 11 | 0 | 0 | | 2001 | 5 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 4.75 | 36.0 | 41 | 19 | 19 | 1 | 31 | 0 | 0 | | 2003 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2.67 | 27.0 | 25 | 8 | 8 | 1 | 21 | 2 | 1 | | 2005 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 5.87 | 7.2 | 6 | 5 | 5 | 1 | 6 | 0 | 0 | | Total | 15 | 15 | 7 | 5 | 0 | 3.57 | 108.1 | 103 | 46 | 43 | 4 | 88 | 2 | 1 |
Things are beginning to look grim for the team I predicted to win it all.
The Deacon finally had a good post season performance and was voted POG. He was 2-4 2HR 3rbi

Ann Arbor 83-81 SP Victor Suarez 15-10 2.31era
@ Florida 97-66 SP Carl Santiago 17-11 2.87era
This one figured to be a good pitching duel and it was. The score was tied at 0-0 until the 5th inning. When Florida takes a 2-0 lead. The Aces really had their best chance in the 7th inning, as Santiago began to get tired. But he showed once again why he has been one of the most dominant pitchers the past 6 seasons.
Pitching: Carl Santiago
2B Blake Hardcastle:
SOLO HOMERUN down the left field line. (347 feet)
RF Alex Amell:
DOUBLES down the left field line.
3B Hernan Trujillo:
Base on balls.
C Stephen Burgess:
SAC BUNT.
Mototsune advances to third.
Trujillo advances to second.
PH Gaylord Hall:
Strikes out looking.
PH Jimmy Bayne:
Strikes out looking.
Inning over... one run, 2 hits, no errors.
Score: Florida 2, Ann Arbor 1
The Ann Arbor manager made all the right moves, but Santiago was just too much for his batters. Hall was .321 as a pinch hitter with an .808 ops. Bayne had been consistent off the bench as well at .319avg with a .756ops.
This was the last chance Ann Arbor would have.
Santiago went 8 innings with 4 hits and 10k's.
Final Score: Florida 5-1
W: Santiago (1-0)
L: Suarez (0-1)
Santiago has been dominant as well in the post season:
| Year | G | GS | W | L | SV | ERA | IP | HA | R | ER | BB | K | CG | SHO | | 2000 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 2.61 | 31.0 | 28 | 9 | 9 | 2 | 19 | 0 | 0 | | 2002 | 4 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 3.94 | 29.2 | 36 | 14 | 13 | 6 | 24 | 0 | 0 | | 2003 | 4 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 2.45 | 29.1 | 27 | 8 | 8 | 2 | 23 | 0 | 0 | | 2005 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.13 | 8.0 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 10 | 0 | 0 | | Total | 14 | 14 | 9 | 3 | 0 | 2.85 | 98.0 | 95 | 32 | 31 | 13 | 76 | 0 | 0 |
His opponent Suarez did well in his first postseason appearance, but not good enough. He went 6ip with 3h 2er 1bb.
