Sim Recap 10/1 - 10/3

Sim Recap 10/1 - 10/3

10/1 Washington at Nevada - 8-7 Win! What a game. After leading 5-1 after 5 innings, we proceeded to
cough up the lead, and entered the bottom of the 8th down 7-5. Spike Halpern plated a run in the 8th,
and in the bottom of the 9th, we notched 4 singles and 2 walks to get the tying and winning runs.
Festa, Halpern and Doctor each drove in 2. Festa's on a 2-run 3rd inning homer, his 15th. Moncayo,
DiBen, Lott, Doctor and Halpern each had 2 singles, while Lott also walked twice. Rudolph went 6 innings,
allowing 2 earned runs, but Tamez and Stoops each allowed 2 runs. Barker came in for the win after shutting
down the 9th.

10/2 Washington at Nevada - 2-1 Loss in 10 innings. Heartbreak. With a chance to clinch .500, we blew it,
managing just 6 hits in 34 ABs. Thiessen drove in the lone run, he's really swinging the bat well.
Quintana had the tough luck, going 7 strong, allowing 1 run, though he did walk 6. His ERA has dipped
to just 2.98. Hollenbeck takes the loss, his 7th. Former Dragon prospect David Melgoza tore us up for
3 hits.

10/3 Washington at Nevada - 5-4 WIN! A barnburner to end the season! We traded runs in the first inning,
but the Griffins plated 2 in the 2nd and another in the 6th. All was looking lost until we stepped to
the plate in the bottom of the 8th. Alex Garza led off with a solid single in his final career at-bat.
It was his 2nd single of the game. Byron Thiessen then came to the dish and hit a grounder with eyes
to put runners on the corners with no one out. After a walk to pinch-hitter Moncayo, the bags were loaded
and the tying run at the plate. Up stepped 2B Albert Estrada, the savvy 36-year-old backup 2B, looking
to go out on a high note. Griffins reliever Ogu Yahei sits him down. 1 away. Next, September GE
Batter of the Month, Clarence DiBenedetto, pinch hits for Ray Festa. Pop up foul territory. 2-down.
It's all up to SS Chris Lott, much maligned all season. GONE. Grand Slam. 30th Homer for Lott. 101 RBIs
on the season. 5-4 Dragons!

In comes Herman Trottier, owner of 35 saves to shut the door. 2-0 count to pinch hitter Paul Thomas,
grounder to 2nd. Uh-oh Trottier is holding his shoulder, this looks bad. Trottier is going to have to
leave the game. In comes former closer and owner of a 2-7 record with a 5.40 ERA Bobby Hollenbeck.
Bam, 4 pitches, all strikes, 2 batters out and the game is ours. 81-81!

SCHEDULE

2012! I'll still finish all the recaps, plus a season wrap up and of course draft stuff.

For now though, anyone have any tips? I see I have a few loyal readers, I think. Anyone care to impart
some wisdom on how I can take this 81-81 team and push forward 10-12 games and into the postseason?
