9/21 - Nevada at Utah - 6-5 Loss. Tough one here as Utah gets the winning run in the bottom of the 8th.
We had a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the 6th too. DiBen continued the hot streak with another
homer, his 25th. Spike Halpern added 3 ribbies while Foland and Salazar nabbed 2 hits each. All 6 Utah
runs were unearned (and 4 of our 5). Ugly game. Rudolph went 5.2 with 2 BB and 5 unearned runs. Tamez
took the loss, and is now 4-4
9/22 - Nevada at Utah - 12-2 Win. Boo-yah! Big day for us with 13 hits and TEN walks (led by 4 from
Lott). Thiessen entered the game in the 7th and ended up 2-2 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Foland knocked 3
hits while Moncayo, Halpern and Lott drove in 2 each. Quintana grabbed the win, his 3rd in a row and
the pen pitched 3 scoreless to ice it.
9/23 - Nevada at Utah - 5-4 Win. Check us out taking the series from the division champs! Albert Estrada
singled in Spike Halpern with the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th. DiBen again led the charge going
4 for 4 with a double and a homer, 2 runs and 3 RBI. Thiessen grabbed another 2 hits. Leonos was rocked
for 4 ER in 5.1 innings, but Stoops pitched 2 scoreless for the win while Trottier notched save number
34.
9/24 - Nevada at Oregon - 4-3 Loss. Ouch. Trottier allowed the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th.
That's 8 losses for him. Ick. DiBen AGAIN had 3 hits. He's up to .298 with 26 HR and 93 RBIs. Lott drove
home the other 2 runs and is at 92 RBIs, 2nd to DiBen. Cordova got no decision after allowing 3 runs (2
earned) in 6 innings. Tamez came on for 2 scoreless as well.
9/25 - Nevada at Oregon - 9-0 Win. Another big 2nd game for us. Ray Festa broke a slump with 2 hits including
a 2-run 1st inning homer. 2 more hits for DiBen, and his 28th steal. Spike Halpern had FOUR hits and 2
RBI. Lott and Moncayo also registered 2 hits. Foxworth pitched a 6-hitter for his 3rd shutout on the
season. He is now 7-6 with a 3.61 ERA. He struck out 1 and walked 1. Mike Doctor left the game in the
3rd with an injury.
9/26 - Nevada at Oregon - 10-4 Loss. OUch, 9-run 5th inning blows us away, negating our 3-0 lead at the time.
Rudolph (7 ER) and Stier (2) were the victims. Rudolph is now 8-12, not rotation material past this
season. We actually had 10 hits, including 2 each from Moncayo, Hagberg (of all people), Foland and
Alex Garza (starting for Doctor). 8 walks too (2 by Hagberg, Salazar and Lott). 4 steals as well, 2 by
Foland (23 now) and Rey M. took his 26th.
9/27 - California at Nevada - 4-3 win in 11. Phew, big WIN! 2-2 in the 11th until they got one off of
Hollenbeck in the top, only to have Lott tie it with his 28th homer with 1 out in the bottom half. DiBen
followed with a single (his 4th hit) was out on a force by Doctor. With 2 out we got back to back singles
by Spike Halpern and Hagberg to take the game! Rey Moncayo left the game in the 7th with a hurt shoulder.
Hollenbeck got the win, his 2nd against 6 losses while Quintana pitched 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs
9/28 - California at Nevada - 7-2 Win. There we go, 2 in a row! we peppered them with single runs in the
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th and broke out for 2 in the 7th for the W. 12 hits and 6 walks. Foland hit his
17th Homer, and had 4 total hits, a steal and 2 runs/RBI. Estrada and Halpern had 2 singles while Thiessen
added 2 doubles. He is up to a .238 average and has won the 2012 starting job barring any unforseen
changes. Leonos picked up his 12th win, allowing 2 unearned runs in 6 innings striking out 4.
9/29 - California at Nevada - 6-2 Win. Sweep! 13 more hits. DiBen has 3 and his 27th Homer. Foland also
3, his 18th homer and 25th steal. Moncayo comes off the bench for a 2-run single in the bottom of the 8th. He even
stole 2nd (his 27th). Festa and Lott added 2 hits too. Miguel Cordova improves to 11-5 going 6.2
for the win.
9/30 - Washington at Nevada - 3-1 Win. 4 in a row and 7 of 10 on the sim. We're in the hunt for .500!
Chris Lott his a big 2-run 6th inning homer, his 29th. He's up to 97 RBIs. Festa added the other RBI.
Mean Gene Foxworth pitched 7 scoreless (16 on the sim) for his 7th win. His ERA is now down to 3.42. He even
K'd 5. In his last 8 starts, he is 4-2 and hasn't pitched less than 7 innings with 2 shutouts. His ERA
in that span is just 1.56! Not bad for a guy who should be in the NBA (he is 6'10").

Pretty solid offensive club. I'll wait these last 3 games and then do a big season recap of how these
guys stacked up against the leaders.

The staff continues to come together, I think we're 1 starter and 1-2 relievers away from being solid.
That 1 starter may need to be an ace though. I think Ace-Herron-Foxworthy-Leonos-Cordova would stack
up well.

Back up to 4th in runs, very nice, and we upped a spot in steals and from 12th to 9th in average.
Pitching stayed the same...the bottom.
SCHEDULE
10/1 Washington @ Nevada - Nevada leads season series 10-5
10/2 Washington @ Nevada
10/3 Washington @ Nevada
2 and 1. Here we go.
We actually won the season series against 4 of the 5 other Western teams, we just really ate it against
Illinois (2-10), Minnesota and Wisconsin (4-8 vs each). We were an even 18-18 against the 2 teams that
beat us in the West (10-8 vs Utah and 8-10 vs Colorado).
