Ozzie put himself in that situation. He used up everyone in his bullpen, so he had to hope Vizcaino would get through it. When the game was still in doubt, he had Jon Garland, the scheduled starter for Saturday, warming up in the pen. Once the game was out of reach though, Vizcaino was just taking one for the team.
Disappointing way to end the series for this Sox fan, but an opening series win against a team a lot of people are picking to win the division or at least seriously contend for the division is fine with me.
