I think the future plan is to get Davis ready for the role, but I'm not happy how they handled him this spring. He's a big guy with a semi-complicated delivery and really needs to focus on one set task to get his rythm right, but instead they had him all over the board, starting, relieving, whatever. I fear they may have just screwed him up further. Put him in the pen and get him used to relieving, then groom him to close next year. But they elected to use him as the bandaid for the solution to Sabathia going down instead. I think they should have sucked it up with someone like Kyle Denney instead and let Jason focus on the long term goal of being a reliever. The pressure to win now is affecting some of the decision making and long term planning in the pitching staff.
