Consistency Between Seasons

I'm still rather new to OOTP. Finished my first (solo) season and really enjoyed it even though I have a mediocre club in a tough division.

I've started the second season and am now halfway through it and am surprised at the differences in stats for players for this year as opposed to last year's. The overall league stats are about the same but my team's individual stats are really taking a beating. For example, my 5 pitchers have the following ERAs (last year/this year): 3.73/4.95, 4.13/4.53, 4.86/5.64, 4.56/7.36, and 3.59/5.23.

My hitters are also hitting worse. For six of my nine hitters the results are (last year/this year): .376/.307, .354/.276, .314/.269, .282/.267, .268/.260, and .285/.243.

Now, I don't really expect or even want my stats to be the same year in and year out but a lot of my players are way off from last year. Is this normal for OOTP? Am I having just an off year? I guess I'm asking what kind of consistency should I expect from one year to the next.

I appreciate any help or comments/suggestions.

Should have mentioned this: I play out all of my team's games.
