Sim Recap 8/21-8/31

Even though I'm not done with the team recap, I want to get my format down for the sim rundowns.
So here goes. Keep in mind. We stink.

Nevada at Washington, 8/21 - 6-5 Win. We blasted 4 homeruns, and Ray Festa 11th of the season in the 8th
inning provided the difference. 2B Moncayo (26th), SS Chris Lott (23rd) and 3B Spike Halpen (8th) also
went yard. Halpern knocked 4 hits. Reliever James Barker picked up his 2nd win in relief of Miguel
Cordova.

Nevada at Washingon, 8/22 - 11-3 win. The offense keeps trucking with 11 runs, including 7 in the first
3 innings. CF DiBenedetto knocked his 17th Homer, and 1B Festa smacked 5 hits and drove in 4 runs!
Starter Richard Herron picked up his 10th win.

Oregon at Nevada, 8/23 - 5-3 Loss in 12. We knocked 15 hits, but only 3 crossed the plate. Moncayo and
Festa each had 3 hits, and new platoon catcher Salazar had 2 hits and 2 runs. Gene Foxworth went 7
strong innings, but reliever Arnie Stier allowed 2 in the 12th for his 2nd loss

Oregon at Nevada, 8/24 - 5-2 Win. Back on track with our 3rd win in 4 on the sim. Cyril Foland hit
a 2-run Homer in the 4th to put us ahead for good. SP Kirby Rudolph ran his record to 7-9 and closer
Herman Trottier picked up his 29th Save.

Oregon at Nevada, 8/25 - 9-4 Win. A big 8-run 6th inning got us yet another W. Big Melvin Hagberg, starting
in place of the red hot Festa knocked a big 2-out 3-run shot in the 6th inning to ice the game. Starter
Jose Leonos was efficient and effective with his 11th win

8/26 - OFF

Utah at Nevada, 8/27 - 4-3 Win. Wow, here I go saying how bad we are, and we win 5 of 6 to start the
dynasty. PH Byron Thiessen and 2B Rey Moncayo had run scoring singles in the bottom of the 7th to
get us the 4-3 lead which we held onto. SP Miguel Cordova ran his record to 8-3 and Trottier picked up
save #30.

Utah at Nevada, 8/28 - 9-2 Win. Again the bats come out to play, Chris Lott hit a 2nd inning Grand Slam,
his 25th Homer of the year and Richard Herron pitched 8 strong innings for his 2nd Win of the sim.

Utah at Nevada, 8/29 - 10-0 Win. I am still in shock. We explode for 12 hits and add 8 walks in the romp.
LF Mike Doctor cleared the bases with a 1st inning double and Ray Festa stayed hot with 2 more hits,
2 RBI's and a walk. Gene Foxworth went the distance, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk and striking out 4.

Kansas at Nevada, 8/30 - 3-1 Loss. All good things come to an end, as we only get 5 hits. New C Salazar
knocks in a run with a double, and Spike Halpern and Chris Lott get 2 hits. Kirby Rudolph is the
tough luck loser falling to 7-10.

Kansas at Nevada, 8/31 - 4-3 win in 12. Wow an 8-2 sim! OF Cyril Foland hit a leadoff homer in the
bottom of the 12th, his 14th to get us in the dugout. What a game! Kansas tied it in the 9th, scratching
out a run. James Barker was fantastic, shutting Kansas down for 2 innings and getting the W.

STANDINGS
Code:
West

Team W L Pct GB L10
Colorado 78 53 .595 - 6-4
Utah 78 53 .595 - 2-8
Nevada 63 68 .481 15.0 8-2
California 56 75 .427 22.0 6-4
Oregon 55 77 .417 23.5 4-6
Washington 44 88 .333 34.5 2-8
Well, we gained 6 games on Utah, but it doesn't really matter with just 31 to play and 15 back.
.500 baseball isn't out of the question, we would really have to play well to get it though.

Well, here's the offense. Not too bad really, Lott used to be a "Lott" better than he has played this
season. Overall, we overplayed our standards this past sim.

There's the staff, it's iffy at best. I don't get the low K totals, I think it must be a league thing
(Chappy?). Only 2 guys who average 4.5 K/9 or better.

Rankings:
Batting AVG: .239 (13th)
Homeruns: 119 (6th)
Walks: 407 (1st)
Stolen Bases: 110 (8th)
Runs Scored: 564 (T-5th)

Pitching ERA: 3.90 (21st)
Opponents AVG: .258 (21st)
HRs Allowed: 97 (T-8th)
Walks Allowed: 401 (21st)
Runs Allowed: 580 (21st)

As you can see, we're all O and not much pitching. I love being 1st in walks though. As you can see,
it makes a big impact on the bottom line (13th in Avg, but 5th in Runs).

Upcoming Schedule

9/1 vs Kansas Storm, 6th in the East, 56-76, Season Series 6-5 Nevada
9/2 vs Illinois Jethawks, 1st in the East, 87-44, Season Series 6-2 Illinois
9/3 vs Illinois Jethawks
9/4 vs Illinois Jethawks
9/5 vs Illinois Jethawks
9/6 @ Wisconsin Lumberjacks, 4th in the East, 66-65, Season Series 7-2 Wisconsin
9/7 @ Wisconsin Lumberjacks
9/8 @ Wisconsin Lumberjacks
9/9 OFF
9/10 @ Texas Banditos, 3rd in the East, 71-60, Season series 5-4 Texas
9/11 @ Texas Banditos

Pretty rough sim for us as we go through the East. I'd take a 5-5 sim in a heartbeat.

Hope you enjoyed my first recap, I promise eventually I won't just be copying Chappy!
