Todd was 21-2-0 and had recorded 4 straight early round knockouts when he was KO'd in the 11th round by Billy Stanley in January 1958. Interesting in that about two months later the two of them squared off in another bout for the vacant Australian Welterweight Title. This time Todd was victor in a 15 round decision. These two fights with Stanley were the first of 9 consecutive fights that would go 11 plus rounds for Todd.
In July 1958 Todd successfuly defended his title in a 15 round decision over Darby Brown. After that came victories over Willie Morton, Franco Rosini and Sandy Manuel that set up Todd's fight in August 1959 against George Barnes for the Commonwealth (British Empire) Welterweight Title along with defending his Australian Title. Barnes defeated Todd in a 15 round decision.
After loosing to Mick Leahy by 11th round KO two months after his loss with Barnes, Todd fought Barnes in a rematch in December 1959 for the Commonwealth and Australian Welterweight Titles. This time Barnes stopped Todd in the 6th round. That turned out to be Todd's last career fight.
