From 1964 through all of 1968, Torcida fought his entire career in homeland Spain compiling a 34-5-4 record. His biggest opponents in that time, he had his trouble with. He lost fights to Jose Legra twice, Miguel Velasquez and fought a 10 round draw with Ernesto Miranda. He lost by 9th round TKO to Antonio Ortiz in November 1966 for the Spanish Light Welterweight Title.
In March 1969 he traveled outside Spain for the first time, to take on Ken Buchanan in Solihull, England. He fought Buchanan (who was 30-0-0 at the time), to a full 10 scheduled rounds. Even though Buchanan came away with the decision, Torcida still managed to earn himself a shot at the European (EBU) Light Welterweight Title, in December 1969 against Bruno Arcari in Bologna, Italy. Torcida was no match for Arcari as Bruno KO'd Torcida in the 5th round. Only the 2nd time Torcida was stopped in a fight. In ended up being Torcida's final fight.
