I thought I'd post a few comments. My goal with this contest was to try to do some unique things. I don't have any plans to do a league with these logos/unis so I thought I'd try some new things.
I had the idea for a plaid shirt but I was surprised how well it came out. I put the vertical lines on one layer and the horizontal on another. They need to be on 2 seperate layers to get the darker color where they overlap. The collared 1900's shirt was great for this. I started with the alternate uni and it seemed like maybe too much plaid. I just cut it down for the home and away ones. I'm not sure why they all seemed to come out fuzzy, though...
When I use uniforms, I like them to be bold. In my league, not all players have a uniform. They get one for doing (or being) something notable -- player of the month, 1st round pick, etc. I use the uniforms in my league to convey some information in the game. As I look across at my team, the uniform tells a story. This guy came in as a free agent. That guy I drafted and developed. With that in mind, I like the uniform to be colorful and bold. If everyone had white or grey shirts, it wouldn't be too easy to tell anything about the guy when you see it in the small sizes. So, I generally go with something "big" in a uniform.
My $.02.
