Sim #3, 2011
4/21 - 4-3 loss @ Virginia - Another tough outing for Curcio, who falls to 2-2 after allowing 9 hits in 6 innings (3 ER). Lust, Tracey and Pooler had 2 hits a piece for the Freedom.
4/22 - 4-3 loss @ Virginia - Deja Vous... Claus went 3-for-4 with 2 homers (4) but it takes more than 1 man to win a ballgame. Northrup allowed 3 ER on 4 hits in 6 innings of work to fall to 1-2.
4/23 - 6-2 loss vs Tennessee - We finally come home, and lose the opener. Lowell Stang was rusty in his return, allowing 10 hits in 5.1 innings. Lust and Pooler were each 2-for-3.
4/24 - 13-1 WIN vs Tennessee - Superman Burns continues to be hot, striking out 9 in 7.2 innings while allowing 1 ER on 4 hits. We also hit 4 homers - Lust (3), C-Mart (2), Claus (5) and Tracey (1). C-Mart earned player of the game honors with a 3-for-4 line and 4 RBI. M-Rod, Bernard Lust, Ludwig Claus and Keith Tracey each scored 3 times.
4/25 - 7-6 loss vs Tennessee - Could the Hector Moreno project be failing miserably? Moreno allowed 6 ER on 9 hits in just 3.2 innings to fall to 1-3. Offensively, Franklyn Thom went 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI and Bick Horizon went 2-for-4 with a 3-run homer (5).
4/26 - OFF DAY
4/27 - 6-1 WIN vs Louisiana - Chris Curico went the distance, allowing 1 ER on 7 hits. He is now 3-2 with a 2.62 ERA. Marcellus Antunez had a career day, going 2-for-4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI. He entered the game with 0 RBI this season.
4/28 - 4-1 WIN vs Louisiana - It's nearly May, and Lowell Stang is just now picking up his first win of the season. Stang allowed 1 ER in 6.2 innings, and Frank Scull picked up his 5th save of the season. Bick Horizon went 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a homer (6) and Keith Tracey went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
4/29 - 2-1 WIN vs Louisiana - Skip Burns turned in another gem, but left with no decision. He allowed 1 ER on 5 hits in 8 innings while fanning 8 batters. Charlie Clowers pitched a scoreless 9th and got the win when Ludwig Claus drove in Jason Leto (who had pinch run for M-Rod) in the bottom of the 9th.
4/30 - 4-0 WIN vs Florida - Horizon (7) and Antunez (3) homered for the Freedom as Hector Moreno rebounded from 3 bad starts with a 4-hit shutout. It was his first shutout in 125 career starts.

We're still within a couple of games of second place, but Connecticut has turned out to be a surprisingly good team, albiet early. New York pulled away from the pack a little last sim.

We only gave up more than 4 runs once last sim, and we finally got a glimpse at what Lowell Stang can do. It was encouraging to see another good start out of Moreno as well. with Clowers doing so well, it's hard to keep him out of the rotation. I guess its a good problem to have.

It's May 1st, and Thom is still posting a sub-.200 OBP, so he drops way down to #7. Tally now leads off - he's not much better, but at least he gets on 26% of the time. Lust and Horizon have been impressive thus far. Claus has been about where I hoped he would be. Now if I could only get Thom into gear... I'd love to upgrade in CF or LF, but I don't really have any good trade bait in the minors. Clowers and Nietz haven't attracted as much attention as I hoped they would. I'm not in a pickle yet, so I can afford to be patient, but I want to score some more runs, and soon.
