Nessim Max Cohen
Moroccan Jew who fought as a middleweight out of France. Born 1941. Fought from 1964 to 1976. Record: 33-9-9 (19).
French middleweight champion, 1971 and 1974-1976. Tko'd in the fourth by Rodrigo Valdez in WBC middleweight title bout in March 1976--Cohen's last fight. It was only the second time that Cohen had been stopped.
Cohen tko'd Jean-Claude Bouttier, gave Willie Monroe and Gratien Tonna their first losses, beat Jacques Kechichian, Jo Gonzales, Mario Almanzo, and Fabio Bettini, and fought Emile Griffith and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad to draws. He lost to Griffith, Bettini, Tony Mundine (in his only other stoppage), and Sammy McSpadden.
