Chance to make your own ballplayers in new developmental league!
Everyone,
First and foremost, I'd like everyone to know that this is not an owner's league. This is a developmental league. However, there is still a chance to participate.
The Dixie League's entry draft will be held during the American Baseball League's All-Star Break (I'd say around a week and a half until that happens). What I'm looking for is ballplayers.
What is the Dixie League? It's an amateur league, held in the southeastern U.S. It is the training ground for the American Baseball League stars of tomorrow. It's also a way for you to get involved in a league, just for fun. A chance to see your own created players take off, and enjoy your own career.
Here are the things I'm looking for:
Name
Nickname
Age
Position
Arm Strength
Bats R,L,S
Height
Weight
Birthplace
Character Attributes
Loyalty
Needs winning team
Leadership ability
Clutch performance
Consistency
Injury rating
Defensive ratings (fill out for whatever position you play)
If you're a hitter:
Offensive ratings:
Speed
Stealing
Bunt for hit
Sacrifice bunt
Hitter type
Batting average ability
Doubles
Triples
HR
Walks
K
If you're a pitcher:
Pitching abilities:
Duration as a starter
Duration as a reliever
Holding runners
Groundball percentage
Avoiding hits
Avoiding doubles
Avoiding HR
Avoiding BB
Getting K
Velocity
Pitch types
Keep in mind, your ratings WILL change should you be drafted by an ABL team. Since this is an amateur, developmental league, your ratings will be adjusted upon being drafted. This is how it works:
18-24: Lowest ratings, highest potentials
25-31: Medium ratings; medium potentials
32-40: Highest ratings; no potentials
Chances are your ratings might slip one point in each category if you choose to be 35 and older. The story to go along with that is that the team who drafts you wants to take a run at a championship, and feels you can help them out.
Guidelines:
No overly goofy names. I'd draw the line at names with overly sexual overtones, if only because I don't want my league to become too much a comedy league. I have what I think is a fine sense of humor; but I don't want to go overboard with my dream league.
There is no requirement to participate outside of getting this in. If you'd like to write a player journal, I can set you up for one. But that's up to you. If you have any questions, you can email me at
ABLCommish@aol.com, or AIM me at UCONNROX11. I have no idea how many of you will participate; even if just one takes a shot, I'll consider this a success.
Please send any entries to
ABLCommish@aol.com .
Peace
John
