Penn #1 Picks - since I've been at the helm
2003 - Donn "Professor" Fagan - Traded to Connecticut on 7/24/2004 (Going to Pen: SS R. Kidder. Going to Con: P D. Fagan) - Kidder gave us a slight offensive boost and has since retired, and Fagan has pitched just 25.2 big league innings, going 1-2 with a 2.81 ERA. I didn't take over the team until after the draft, but I was the one who traded him.
2004 - Carmelo "Fonzie" Fons - Traded from Pennsylvania to Virginia on 3/1/2007 (Going to Pen: P L. Stang and the #1 overall pick in the 2007 draft (Delmar Barrie). Going to Vir: 3B C. Fons, P B. Titsworth, RF J. Manning) - Fonzie was one of my favorites, but at this point in time, I needed young pitchers. I gave up too much for Stang, but his 20-win season this year has put me a little more at ease (I'd also feel a little better about this deal had Lenz not bit the dust - see below). I remember trying hard to talk VA into taking Claus instead of Fonzie, but I ended up caving in. Fonzie hit .373 in '08 and now has a .307 career average.
2005 - Ludwig "Lobster" Claus - Still with the team. An All-Star in '07, but a bit of a disappointment thus far.
2005 - Zack Loranger - Traded from Pennsylvania to Maryland on 5/4/2005 (Going to Mry: SS Z. Loranger. Going to Pen: 1B P. Galyon) - Loranger finally made his debut this year for the Admirals, and hit .333 in 5 games. At 25, he looks like he has a decent future ahead of him. Of course, if we hadn't traded him, we never would have had Pat Galyon.

2006 - Steven "Beanpole" Huggan - Traded from Pennsylvania to Mississippi on 6/3/2006 (Going to Mis: CF S. Huggan. Going to Pen: P A. Nietz, P P. Iuvani, P C. Soles, P J. Melboure) - Now with Texas, Huggan has had a similar career to one Lobster Claus. Decent power, low average. Still a chance to be great, but so far a disappointment. As for the players we got, well, the jury is still out. Nietz looks like he'll be pretty good.
2007 - Delmar Barrie - Traded from Pennsylvania to Illinois on 7/22/2007 (Going to Ill: CF D. Barrie, RF S. Sedgwick. Going to Pen: P A. Lenz) - We all know how this one went -

Lenz could have been a star until that CEI.
2008 - Keith Tracey - Still with the team.
2009 - Rudy "Spiderman" Lareau - Traded from Pennsylvania to Washington on 3/3/2009 (Going to Pen: P Charlie Clowers, C Carlos Martinez, Washington's 4th round pick. Going to Was: C Billy Carreras, SS Rudy Lareau, Pennsylvania's 1st round pick) - If Clowers never pans out, this will be another one I'll regret. Lareau hit .262 as a rookie for Washington. Actually, seeing as the pick I gave them turned out to be #5 overall, I still will regret this deal no matter what.
2010 - Traded pick in above trade.
So, Ludwig Claus and Keith Tracey are the only 1st rounders I've both drafted and kept. And both had disappointing years. Oh well.
