I'm quite often surprised by the lack of progression of an owner's expectations. I led the Brewers to a 4th place finish in my first season, staying out of the cellar, as per my owner's wishes. He signed me to a 2-year deal after the season ended, but his expectations ("Don't finish last, jerk!") were the same. I would expect more owners to upgrade to "Play .500 ball" or something. If I managed to finish 4th in a 6 team division, why would an owner not raise his expectations beyond avoiding last the next season?
