Even if you signed a minor league extension with him, he automatically gets a big-league contract when he is put on the active roster. If he has a "squiggly" by his name he has the right to refuse minors assignment. Nothing you can do about it, but release him or keep him on the active roster. You may want to keep putting him back on waivers until his DFA time runs out, though, in case some other team picks him up (& his salary).
