I did a few more tests and things are looking fine for the human controlled teams (so I think the above test was likely an outlier...and it still had a couple of guys that had developed for the human...

Do you have any pitchers set as a "Long Relief" role? I don't manage games typically, but I thought that role allowed them to pitch longer (although not as long as a starter).
