I have a starting 1st Baseman, Freddie Freeman, hurt for 6 weeks with a dislocated finger... If i put him on the 15 day DL will he be able to stay on the IR until 6 weeks is over or should i put him...

Does this work the other way like if i want a catcher to learn 1st base but he has a 0 rating at first... if i play him at first will he eventually learn that position?
