But the AI doesn’t know how to even out the teams, and there isn’t always enough pitchers. One team will have 15 pitchers the other 3.

Top draft picks always pitchers

I tested this in my franchise. The majority of the time an SP was #1, but the rest of the draft has been like 65% position players. Only 10 years of evidence but still.

I’m fine with SPs going 1...

Well pitchers do wear down in real life. 150+ innings is a lot on the body. Maybe OOTP replicates this. Sale and Ryu come to mind as real life examples.
