Some sort of configuration file I can edit, or something? I'd like to play without the DH, but I'd also like pitchers to not embarrass themselves.

mm gulp. Sorry about that. I'd only just discovered this workaround, in a fictional league, before discovering this thread. FWIW you can exit OOTP with Ctrl-Shift-Esc to annul any categorical errors...
