I just checked. I have the current driver. Its a soundblaster PCI512. The last drive came out on 11/2001 and I have it.

Any idea how I can get the sound working again?

That did it. I guess I should look into upgrading my sound card driver? Maybe its not compatible with directx 9.

Upgraded to DirectX 9a and now the game hangs

I have been playing OOTP5 with no problems at all, then I upgraded from DirectX 8.x to 9a and now the game hangs after it brings up the window "Initiating sounds". You can hear the crowd, but then...
