It's good to see this. It's been pointed out in the past that OOTP is not great about simulating hugely statistically outlying seasons (think Babe Ruth).

The option to have a league with co-champs and the option for 'amateur' leagues that don't accrue service time are two minor things I hope to see (re-)introduced to OOTP someday.

Seems easy to test. Generate a draft class, compare sabermetric stats to actual potentials in the player profile.
