Retiring players

In my historical replay, Hoyt Wilhelm retired after the 1969 season even though IRL he played for three more. Is this unusual? I guess I just assumed in historical guys retired when they did IRL.
There's probably a setting for this huh?

You can try checking the "Retire players according to history" box on the Game Settings > League Settings > Historical page about halfway down on the left side, but I'm not sure it would've made a difference in this true outlier's case. :)
