We are back home to play the San Diego Padres a 3 game series over the weekend. They just won 3 of 4 at home against Salt lake City. They have won 7 of their last 8 games. We are 2-7 against them on the season and lost 2 games the last time they were in Portland at the beginning of May. They are 12th in scoring in the PCL with 4.12 runs per game (Portland is back to last with 3.84). Their hitters are 1st in SB (114) but 2nd to last in HR (69). They are 3rd in fewest runs allowed with 3.69 per game (Portland is 7th with 4.33).

The Seattle Rainiers are in town to play a 4 game series. They swept the Angels in 3 games in Los Angeles over the weekend. We are 3-3 against them on the year and lost 2 of 3 to them the last time they were in Portland at the end of April. They are 9th in scoring in the PCL with 4.21 runs per game (Portland is still last with 3.87). They are 10th in fewest runs allowed with 4.60 per game (Portland is down to 8th with 4.37).

The mighty San Francisco Seals are in town to play a 3 game series over the weekend. They just lost 2 of 3 at home to Oakland. We are 4-4 against them on the season and split 4 games with them the last time they were in Portland in the middle of May. They lead the PCL in scoring with 4.93 runs per game (Portland is still last with 3.89). The Seals lead in almost every offensive category, except steals and they are last in walks. They play in a very tough park for hitters. They are 6th in fewest runs allowed with 4.27 per game (Portland is 8th with 4.31). They have allowed 6 fewer runs than us.

We placed P Bobby Johnson (22-R) on the 15 day Disabled List and recalled P John Cox (28-L) from Vancouver (A).

We are in Tinseltown to play a 2 game series with the Hollywood Stars. They just got swept 3 games in Seattle over the weekend after sweeping 4 games in Sacramento. We are 1-8 against them on the season and lost 2 games the last time we visited them back in June. Over the weekend, Dave McDowell of San Francisco hit his 5th home run against us tying Larry Church for the most against us on the season. Now, Mr. Church will get a chance to break the tie... The Stars are 3rd in scoring in the PCL with 4.79 runs per game (Portland is up to 15th with 3.90!). Their hitters lead the League in OBP at .350. Portland is last at .306. They are 14th in fewest runs allowed with 4.73 per game (Portland is 8th with 4.35). The Stars' Park, Chase Field, is a great place to be a hitter.

We are in Dallas to play the Eagles a 4 game series through the weekend. They just split a pair with Kansas City here. We are 0-4 against them on the season and this is our first trip to their place. They are 3rd in the PCL in scoring with 4.80 runs per game (Portland is last with 3.86). The Eagles are 7th in fewest runs allowed with 4.27 per game (Portland is 8th with 4.40). The Ballpark at Arlington is a great place to hit.
