16 teams, 120 games, unbalanced with interleague

Hello. We at the International Baseball League would like a 120 game, 16 team schedule with interleague play. 2 subleagues, each with 2 divisions, each with 4 teams.

- 11-12 games against each of 3 division opponents (5-6H/5-6A, 34 total) *17H/17A for each team*
- 8-9 games against each of 4 nondivision opponents (3-6H/3-6A, 34 total) *17H/17A for each team*
- 6-7 games against each of 8 interleague opponents (3-4H/3-4A, 52 total) *13H/13A for each team against each interleague division*

There's a slight gimmick to this, as there are an abnormally large number of 2-game series and fewer 4-game series due to this league being an online league. This means there are an abnormally large number of "squeeze weeks" as well, due to the need to maintain a normal proportion of off days.

The schedule starts on the first Sunday on or after May 5, and lasts 136 days, ending on the first Tuesday on or after September 18. All-Star game falls on day 86 (a Monday) and there is a two-day Monday/Tuesday All-Star break.

I'll take this on - I'll do my best to create a schedule with some character.

Is it safe to assume, due to the large proportion of interleague games, that you don't want interleague confined to a specific part of the year?

EDIT: Answered my own question. Due to the layout of two- and three-game series, the two-game series are mostly interleague games. So they definitely need to be spread out throughout the year.

I do have another question, though: since the season starts on Sunday rather than Monday, some weird things will happen with off days. Which of these options is your favorite?

- Everyone begins on Sunday, but most teams have two consecutive off days that week
- Everyone begins on Sunday, but most of those opening series have an off day in the middle (as MLB has often done)
- Everyone begins on Sunday, but several teams have the following Sunday off
- Only one or two pairs of teams begin on Sunday, with the rest starting on Monday

EDIT II: Never mind, answered that question too. I can alleviate those concerns by making the first week of the season one of the six squeeze weeks.

Here's your schedule - everything should hopefully be as you requested.

11-12 games vs. 3 division opponents (5/6 - 6/6 - 6/5; 17-17 in total)
8-9 games vs. 4 intraleague opponents (5/3 - 6/3 - 3/5 - 3/6; 17-17 in total)
6-7 games vs. 8 interleague opponents ((3/3 - 3/3 - 3/4 - 4/3)x2; 26-26 in total)

120 games in total (60-60)

Season starts on the first Sunday after May 5, and ends on the first Tuesday after September 18. (I'm not sure if I lined that up correctly... but the schedule is the correct length and it should be easy enough to adjust)

I don't typically pay much attention to the lengths of homestands and roadtrips when I'm making a schedule, but there shouldn't be anything too absurd. I did just notice that I gave one team all but one series at home in the month of June, but I don't immediately spot any roadtrips longer than two weeks.

No series longer than 3 games exists in this schedule. Each team plays, in a given week, a Fri/Sat/Sun 3-game series, with either a Mon/Tue/Wed series, a Tue/Wed/Thu series, or a set of two two-game series. I tried to make the schedule interesting, so teams don't all play "squeeze weeks" at the same time. For instance, on the week in which Monday is day 51, teams 3, 5, 8, 11, 12, and 16 pair up to play three-game series, while the league's other ten teams engage in a pair of two-gamers. I didn't go too crazy (there are only four weeks in which this occurs), but it adds a little spice to the schedule that you normally only get with a real-life schedule.

Hope everything works as planned - I didn't test it extensively but it does import properly.
