Historical - NHL Expansion Draft Bug

98 Expansion (Nashville),
Rules:
The Predators were to select 26 players, one from each of the 26 existing franchises at the time of the draft.

First- and second-year pros were exempt from being selected in the draft. Each of the 26 franchises in the league were allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen and seven forwards.

Not including the minutae about who had to be protected and available.. but the issue is the drafting 1 from each franchise.

I'm doing the expansion draft right now (well, the AI is picking for Nashville) and the first 4 skater picks (and 6 total) have come off my roster. I should only have lost 1.Chicago, Edmonton and Dallas each lost 2.

Not all of the expansion drafts use the precise format that was in place for the draft. That restriction is probably one we can add, but I'm not sure when.

Would it be possible to have the game generate an email message, maybe right after the Cup Finals end with the awards, that says Expansion is coming, by how many teams, who you're allowed to protect (1G, 5D, 9F or 1G, 14 skaters, etc) and who doesn't need to be protected?

Expansion is a mess

Yes this restriction must be put in. It’s a joke as it works right now. The 1992 expansion draft with Ottawa and Tampa coming in saw my team the Habs lose 8 players. The Oilers lost 5 plasters, islanders lost 7 players, Rangers 5 players, Pittsburgh lost 6, Washington 3, Winnipeg 4. Two other teams lost 1 each. That’s it. Totally ruins teams, while leaving others untouched.
