Variances in star ratings, same player
This is not limited to my online league, but as I almost entirely do online league gaming, this is where it is the most confusing.
The same player will have two different star ratings depending on whether or not you are looking at their main page (the rating that shows on the list of players, too) or their scouting page (which tends to be the most accurate assessment of your scout). Main page: https://goo.gl/photos/3MCWNrPVDLmi13SX7 As you can see above, this player, with no statistics, has a 1.5-star actual and 2.5 potential rating. A fair possible player. However, if you go into the scouting report, you get a different story: https://goo.gl/photos/hfxgbLEVDR65251k7 This disparity is incredibly confusing and frustrating. Are you getting a 1.5/2.5 player, or a 1/1.5 player? The difference is between a potential contributor or a fringe career minor-league player. The ACTUAL scout rating does not appear on any sortable lists, so the ONLY way to get an accurate reading of a player's potential is to go into every single player's profile and go to their scouting page. This gets old very fast and takes a lot of time. Please let us know why in the world this is different, HOW the difference in the pages is reached (and what it means), and, if possible, fix this in the future to at least give the option to show the scout's star/ability assessment on the main page and in sortable lists. -Kilborn Edit: the IMG tags are not showing the pictures that illustrate these differences. The URL to the first link (the main page) is: https://goo.gl/photos/3MCWNrPVDLmi13SX7 The URL to the second link (the scouting page) is: https://goo.gl/photos/hfxgbLEVDR65251k7 |

The short answer is ratings suck. The longer answer:
-When your scout files a report, we calculate a star value from that, at the time the report is filed (the ratings on the scout page, in your case done on May 18). -On the main page, we do load the scout report, however we actually recalculate the star values. I won't go into all the details, all the ratings values (contact, power, defense, stats, etc...) get combined to a single number, which we then use to create a star rating. So, the short answer is that both values are your scout's opinion. The number on the main page and in lists is the most up-to-date value, so generally speaking, you should trust that one most. We've done some work the last year or two in cleaning it up to improve it so that at least if you look on the same day the report comes out we're not showing different values, but we'll keep working to clean this stuff up to make sure everything is consistent. |
Continuing issue
Guys, just letting you know as you're developing OOTP20 that this is still an issue.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiwsjpZWOEDwi-E-04sKvrrw972Kdg Note the different report from the scout and the image that pops up when hovering over the player's name. This discrepancy exists throughout the game. If it is something you guys could fix in your creation of the next version, it would be great. -LK |
